Founded in October 1990, the family company, in its first period of activity covering the years 1990 – 2005, was engaged in the design and construction of technically advanced facades. At the same time, promotion and sales of modern facade materials of well-known German companies, previously unknown on the domestic market, were carried out:

• Thyssen Schulte; curtain wall systems;
• Alcan Singen; composite materials
• Alucobond, Dibond, Alucore;
• Agrob Buchtal; façade ceramics
• Keraion, Kera-Twin.

In 15 years of activity in the construction industry, we have participated in the implementation of more than 100 well-known buildings throughout the country; such as banks (PKO SA in Koszalin and Ostroleka, Commercial Bank in Olsztyn), hotels (Sheraton and Hyatt in Warsaw), the Air Traffic Control Center at Okęcie, office buildings, high-end apartment buildings, etc.

Industrial batteries for railways and power generation

In 2005, a new chapter in Almides’ activities began. We undertook the promotion and distribution of nickel-cadmium alkaline batteries in Poland and other European Union countries, initially produced by the Russian manufacturer Saratov, and since November 2011 by the Indian manufacturer HBL from Hyderabad. Since 2022, we have been offering alkaline batteries from the Ukrainian manufacturer ADS in place of batteries from Saratov.

In our current sales offer we have almost all types of alkaline batteries used by our domestic and European customers. We also re-export batteries to other markets including Spain, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Serbia, Croatia, etc.

Battery service

An important focus of the company’s activities is the servicing and reconditioning of batteries. The regeneration process ensures a significant extension of their service life, bringing tangible financial benefits to users of rail vehicles. Our services are used by, among others, Metro Warszawskie, Koleje Mazowieckie, PKP Intercity, Szybka Kolej Miejska in Trójmiasto, ORION Kolej, Serwis Pojazdów Szynowych, Public Transport Service, etc.

Battery servicing is carried out at the Almides production plant in Nowa Wies near Włocławek. The plant is located in central Poland (in the immediate vicinity of the A1 motorway). On a plot of more than 3.5ha, there are production halls, warehouses and battery service facilities with an area of approximately 2500m² and an office building with an area of approximately 300m2.

The plant manufactures many accessories such as battery boxes, connectors, cables and also produces alkaline electrolyte.

Solar energy and energy storage

Building of the first industrial solar energy storage facility in Poland.

In 2013-2014, we undertook work in the field of solar energy generation and storage.

The project, which was carried out in stages, was built on a 1.5 ha plot next to the Company’s Production Plant in Nowa Wieś near Włocławek.

On 27.02.2020, the technological start-up of the first stage of the solar power plant took place, comprising 880 panels with a total capacity of 0.25 MW and an energy storage facility consisting of 1 800 alkaline cells with a capacity of 0.34 MWh.

This was the first industrial solar energy storage facility in Poland. The project won the main prize in the 3rd edition of the ‘EKO-OR£Y’ competition organised by the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Toruń. It was also recognised by the Rzeczpospolita daily in the ‘Eagle of Innovation’ competition.

In August 2022, the construction was completed and the second and final stage of the project was commissioned; meaning that the power plant capacity was increased to 1MW and the storage capacity to approximately 0.5 MWh.

The cost of the implementation of both stages was approximately PLN 5 million, of which nearly PLN 2.6 million was a loan from the Provincial Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Toruń.

In preparation is a project with a capacity of approximately 5 MW located on a plot of more than 6 ha, located in the Staszów municipality in Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. Implementation is scheduled for 2024 – 2025. Since 2023, such works has been underway on a 40 MW photovoltaic farm project and a 20 MWh energy storage facility. The project will be located in the Włocławek and Kowal Communes.

• Promotion and distribution of small and medium size solar energy storage systems of which Almides is a Certified Distributor in Poland.

The main partner of our Company in this field is the world-famous company FELICITY ESS from Guangzhou, It is our supplier of high-quality battery energy storage (LiFePO4) and inverters. An additional advantage of cooperation with the Chinese manufacturer from Guangzhou is fast delivery times because this company has a warehouse of its products in the European Union (Rotterdam in the Netherlands).

The energy storage for prosumers exhibitions are located at the headquarters of Almides Company in Warsaw, as well as at the production plant in Nowa Wieś near Włocławek.

Electric traction motors

In 2018, Almides established a commercial cooperation with the company “ELECTROTYAZMASH” (now “UKRAINIAN ENERGY MACHINES) from Kharkiv for the distribution and overhaul of ED-118 traction motors for diesel locomotives.

Equipment for the power industry

At the beginning of 2022, Almides started to cooperate with Ukrainian companies in the supply of equipment for the energy sector. Already by the end of the year, 2 units of complete ‘bandage’ rings for a 165 MW turbogenerator were delivered to a Ukrainian customer (DTEK ENERGO Group from Lviv).
This activity is currently being intensively developed by engaging a number of Polish companies in collaboration with Ukrainian energy sector.

Expanding cooperation with Ukrainian companies

Cooperation was intensified after the Russian aggression in February 2022.
Currently, our business partners are:

• ADS – manufacturer of alkaline batteries;
• Eltra – manufacturer and contractor of major overhauls of traction engines;
• LEG – producer of carbon brushes.
